HELP PRESERVE SYD HOFF'S LEGACY

Dear Syd Hoff Fans,

I want to share some exciting news! A research fellowship memorializing Syd Hoff, legendary gag cartoonist, illustrator and beloved children’s author, has been established at The University of Southern Mississippi Foundation.

The Syd Hoff papers have been maintained in the de Grummond Children’s Literature Collection at the University of Southern Mississippi for many decades. His collection contains book dummies, typescripts, galleys, illustrations and color separations related to forty-six fiction and non-fiction works created or accumulated by Syd. It also contains more than 1700 cartoons drawn for newspapers and magazines between 1946 and 1977, including King Features Syndicate, The New Yorker, Collier’s, Saturday Evening Post and other national publications. Large format Hoff editorial cartoons are also located in the AAEC Editorial Cartoon Collection, which is housed on campus with historical manuscripts.

The Syd Hoff Research Fellowship Endowment is intended to provide financial assistance for scholarly research projects that will encourage the imagination of young readers and inspire authors, cartoonists and illustrators.

Would you consider making a contribution in Syd’s memory? Your support will help us preserve Syd’s rich and diverse legacy for the next generation of readers, writers, illustrators and cartoonists. Making a gift online is very easy through the USM Foundation at www.usmfoundation.com/SydHoff.

The University of Southern Mississippi Foundation is a 501(C)(3) organization. All gifts are tax-deductible to the extent of current IRS regulations.

Thank you for your consideration.

Sincerely,

Carol Edmonton
